ROSENHOF
True German Heritage Food Experience
Cafe / Restaurant coming soon
The Rosenhof (Rose Yard) house was built in 1858 and modified many times. It was Tenterfield's first bank and later the home of Australia's first surviving quintuplets. The Property is heritage listed.
We (Kirsten and Christian Uhrig) bought the badly run down property (aka KEBA House) in June 2016 and are in the process of renovating and rejuvinating the house and garden into a Museum / Gallery with attached German Cafe. Our Vision is to provide a "True German Food Experience" which goes well beyond the stereotype of Schnitzel & Beer. We will champion local produce and cook what we love to eat ourselves. A vast variety through the different foods and regional cultures of Germany.
The Established Garden features hundred+ year old trees which provide shade in summer and form a beautiful backdrop for a day away in the Garden Cafe. With over 150 fruit trees and 200 roses already planted, we have seen plenty of bird varieties coming to the property.
Rosenhof German Heritage Cafe and Restaurant will also be an ideal place for Family Functions, Weddings, Events, Seminars, Markets, Trainings and Corporate Meetings.
Rosenhof translates from the German into Roseyard, Rosegarden or Rosefarm.
Besides the over hundred and forty fruit trees recently planted on the property, Roses will be one of the main features in the garden.
Once fully established, the roses can be enjoyed in the garden and throughout the Cafe / House for decoration.
