Rosenhof German Heritage Cafe & Restaurant
Our Story
Short Version (for those with short attention spans)
We, Kirsten and Christian, wanted to revitalise this amazing heritage property
and turn it into a place that shares its story with visitors - we also want to serve food we love, in a way we like it.
The End
K&C Uhrig - June 2019
Long Version (for those who want to know the details)
Click here for the journey of our renovation and historic information we have received from a heritage report prepared by an earlier owner.
The RosenHof (Rose Yard) house was built in 1857 and modified many times since.
It was Tenterfield's first bank and later the home of Australia's first surviving quintuplets. The Property is heritage listed.
Renovation of the building took over 3 1/2 years from mid 2016 to end of 2019 and Rosenhof
is now open to the public for the first time since the late 1800s

Visit us and have a look around inside and in the garden - hear the stories of the house and German Settlers in the area.
The 164 year old heritage listed property is now called Rosenhof and includes a vast garden, fruit orchard, Indoor and Garden Restaurant and Café. Offering a genuine European Food Experience during Breakfast, morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Coffee as well as Dinners 3 days a week and on appointment.
Ideal for family gatherings, weddings, anniversaries and business functions. We are fully licenced.
Rosenhof translates from the German into Roseyard, Rosegarden, Rosecourt or Rosefarm.
The 2ha property invites to wonder and ponder, sit under a hundred-year-old tree or in the grass. The 175 heritage fruit trees planted on the property and together with the Roses are the main features of the garden.
There is a lot of German Heritage here in the New England Area. Many of our visitors tell us things such as "my grandparents came to the area in the 1800s".
So, our vision is to provide a "True German / European Food Experience" which goes well beyond the stereotype of Pork Knuckles & Beer.
We offer "old fashioned" food made in house from the best ingredients we can find.
